So... What do you do when your motor has been acting up (and has seen 150K+ miles)? What if you're helping out around a race shop and a "new" Spec Miata donor rolls in with a healthy sounding motor? Apparently, the correct answer is to ask "Hey... what are you guys going to do with that motor?"Then you put up a post and con your friends in to an all night engine swap party. Don't forget beer, Mountain Dew and cold pizza. Our own Evil Speeder just did this and I got the pleasure of hanging out and watching while some more competent folks helped out with the dirty work. I also took some pictures and notes. I hope you enjoy this somewhat unconventional and certainly irreverent engine swap report... |

Eight and a half (more on that later...) Miatas shot north from Plano this morning for a jaunt through the countryside. mx52nr joined us at the meetup point, but wasn't able to make the drive. Our "Long Haul" award definitely goes to bio243 for this event... He and his girlfriend drove up from Temple!
Rain was threatening during a few parts of the trip, but we escaped all but a few drops that came down as we turned off Hwy 75 toward Weston. Traffic threatened - and impeded a few times - but largely kept away. All in all, it was a wonderful trip with good friends, great food and lots of smiles. |

Well it was a great day! The POS Racer was able to slip into a second place finish just behind my hero Jimmy Stewart!
CS top honors went to Altiain followed very closely by local hero Kestrel! Tire class had a special guest appearance by Lugnut Jon and his 10AE. Seems as if Jon ran out of race rubber so decided to give it a go on Azenis! He was quite zippy on the Azenis, followed closely by Tailchaser and onething for a 1,2,3 Miata finish in tire class! Brock had a great day in STS2 and picked up first place honors followed closely by lost216. |

The fine folks at ATS Racing offered us the opportunity to have a Miata Dyno Day, and a bunch of us jumped at the chance!
The Tarrant county sides of town meet up at Joe’s Coffee house on Hwy 377 in Watauga and had a nice breakfast, then we headed up HWY 377 to Denton. When we got to ATS they had already run ATSChristin’s new to her ’99 Turbocharged Sport and Eric’s Turbocharged NB Miata. So we signed the waiver and got cued for our runs! One by one the strapped our cars on the dyno and the results were instantly available on a computer screen for the world to see! |

Six months ago, dfwmiata.com was founded by a small group of performance-minded Miata owners and enthusiasts. Since that time, we've created a thriving online community with over 80 contributing members on our discussion forums. Our portal site (where you're reading this) sees over 200 unique visitors each day.
Off-line, we've racked up the miles and worn out tires at autocross events throughout the state. We've attended a driving day at Motorsports Ranch. We've burned up the highways in to Oklahoma (and found some fried pies). Heck, we've even printed stickers for our front quarter windows. |
