Don't Panic Racing - TCS 42It's hard to believe we've completed nearly a third of the Equipe Rapide season. The 3rd event this year drew a lot of Miata pilots, including some new faces. Complete results have been posted at the ER site. We saw 7 entries in CS, 1 in ES, 1 in CSP, 1 in DSP, 1 in STS2, 2 in Novice, and 3 in Street Tire for a total of 16 pilots/15 Miatas if you count the one run my car completed. Kudos to onething for allowing me to finish out the day after a disappointing flat tire after my first run.

I know that onething and I learned a lot about braking. My first run in his car was .4 slower than my best of the day, and I broke very early for almost every turn. I'm planning to work on that at my next event, especially considering what we saw happen during some very late braking maneuvers during onething's runs.

Our forum new guys are certainly turning up the heat as they get more seat time. sammm got off to a rough start, but scored a run during the Rapide Pax competition that would have landed him a solid second in Tire Class. When the chips fell, however, it was tailchaser followed by onething in that class. C Stock competition was extremely tight with first changing hands several times during the early runs. leadfootjon won the day by more than a second over General Default and altiain. Must have been the Hoosiers. However, one of our other regulars showed up on Hoosiers, too... I guess we'll have to see what excuses get traded over in the forums.

In E Stock, our own POS Racing came within a couple tenths of edging out his perennial nemesis, the evil Mr. Burns. mark52 ran unopposed in CSP, but failed to best the times posted by our C Stock pilots. Robert J. couldn't hold off Tom V.'s road race prepared Neon in DSP, but he had a solid drive.

New guy (to us), turboduane, battled a tough index and less than optimal tires to hang on to a 5th place finish in novice. redbullforbreakfast made improvements throughout the day under the tutelage of his dad.

Turboduane's FM-I powered car was looking good!
We hear turboduane liked it so much, he's going to have some fancy numbers next time we see him.

Thanks to everyone who came out and to the Equipe Rapide folks for putting on great events. It's always a treat when the weather cooperates out at the MineralRing. We look forward to seeing you at the next autocross!
