Yes, the heater controls get hot.

I found out that the heater controls get hot enough to melt plastic. Not a lot of melting, just enough to be a bother.

My fan control was jammed against the #4 position. It would wobble back and forth, which would turn the fan on or off, but it wouldn't move to the 3, 2, 1, or 0 positions. I took it apart to find out why. It turns out that somehow the plastic became hot enough to melt a tiny part of the wiring connector to the switch and to allow the metal contact for the #4 position to recede into what must have been hot, soft plastic. The fix wasn't that hard, but I don't want to do it again.

I also found out that there is a little white plastic clip that keeps the cable guide for the window away from the pulley unless it breaks. After it breaks, a clicking noise can be heard when the window is raised. Luckily, a small hose clamp and large helping of profanity helped to fix that issue.

How come that your car receives all the problem in this world? hahaha.. I am sure that your differential case will be next to fail.

Follow up - a month or two ago, I found that the relay for the blower (under the dash, driver's side,) had become hot enough to melt some plastic at one point, (probably right before the blower quit,) and plastic had blocked the connection. A bit of sand paper cleaned that up for now after I found out the replacement was over $40.
