Yesterday the ::Curls:: mentioned that the brakes were making a noise. So today I took it out and there is a grinding noise that sounds like it's from the rear. It continues after a stop and then when you start cruising again, but after hitting the brakes a few more times it goes away. Also noticed that it barely got over 200 miles this last tank.
I haven't had a chance to look at them yet, but does this sound like it could be the problem?
Sounds like a good place to start.
Pull the pads... if they are way thicker on one end vs. the other then it's a slider issue.
Oh, and if you can't get the calipers apart... it's a slider issue... duh. ;)

Turns out these are the original pads on the rear at 95K. There was not any pad left and it was down to the squealers.
Still on the rears, do you lube just the lower slider pin? Or the upper as well?

You can do it while still mounted. Clean them up as best you can first (steel wool, scotch-brite pad, etc), and clean the groove in the pins too.Quote:
