Last day is Tuesday.
aahh XBoX360...haha
So whatcha going to do for $$$?
Good question. Start selling parts off the Miata? ;)
I'm going to vacation for a couple of weeks to get back into a normal sleep pattern and try to calm my nerves.
As for a job, I have a couple of possibilities, but nothing is set in stone yet. I had to get away from the mall... far, far away. WOW I work with (and for) some idiots. I'm not terribly concerned about getting a job really soon; I can live on my current funds for a while. I just need a break.
Nothing wrong with a vacation MadMonkey.
Go kill some folks on Call of Duty MW...that will make you feel better ;)
Back in the day, I knew some hippies that would work for six months, quit, then live for as long as they could make their money last before getting another job. The new job would last several months, and then the cycle would begin again.
Being poor ain't bad, if you're not used to much.
Since you like law enforcement try here. They are hiring 150 new detention officers and it's a good way to work yourself into the Sheriff's department.
Already been working on that http://smiliesftw.com/x/biggthumpup.gif
Well, I'm not going to push it that far, but I do want to take a couple of weeks of relaxation. I thought about taking off somewhere instead of sitting around here, too...
And I'm not used to having a lot of money anyway, so I know how to live the penny-pinching lifestyle ;)
I've decided to get away from anything remotely related to law enforcement or security; once I saw the idiots you have to deal with just being a rent-a-cop, I can't imagine that being a full fledged police officer would be any more fun. Except you get a car and aren't stuck in a parking lot all night. Of course, I could join Citizens On Patrol and pretend to be a real cop now and then :D
I have a pretty good chance at a job with a large company that one of my RC flying buddies is trying to hook me up with. All the preliminary stuff is done, but the hiring date probably won't be until sometime next month if all goes well. But that's just one idea.
I'M FREE!!!!::EvilBana::Naughty:::rock::::Hyper:: :cheers:
More power to ya...
I have never left a job without something lined up.
I have been laid off twice though.
The first time I literally started interviewing for temp jobs the next day even though I had 3 months of severance lined up.
I was employed as a temp 3 days later, then it turned permenant.
So I enjoyed double income for a few months.
The second time I was laid off (May 2007) I started hunting because I had 30 days until my last day and 7 months of severance coming.
Within 15 days I had a job at the same company (same pay but a step lower... I lost my VP title. :( ) so I passed on the severance.
Also didnt help that my wife was between careers and we were getting married in a few weeks.
I may have rolled the die if she had the job she has now.
I guess I am wired differently.
I would be up at night worried about finding a job.
Even though we could pretty much live on my wifes salary now I still like to have a large cushion of income.
My first job, I was laid off... and that REALLY sucked because I lived out in the sticks. Seemed like every business in town was a family-owned or family operated place who refused to hire "outsiders". It took me 6 months to find a new job, and that was Wal Mart. I worked there for a year and a half.
They told me I had to work 2 years to start accumulating vacation time, so I never asked about it again. Lo and behold, when I left on July 10th of 06, they told me I had a week of vacation that I didn't know about
The next day I was working in Grapevine, 4 hours away after moving up here (in my Miata). No vacation.
Worked for Valor Security at the mall for a year and a month, then switched companies. We were told we could use our vacation time.
We didn't get to, though we did get paid for it. So no vacation again. I've worked here since August of last year, and I just got fed up. At least Valor Security tried to move away from the stereotypical "rentacop" image and make us look good... the new company (IPC International) promotes the stereotype. We even wear those little police hats
Dumbest thing is making us carry little PDA's to scan barcodes throughout the mall to show that we're doing something. Which means we're paying attention to that instead of doing our job.
I left my legacy in that area though... I went through the mall with a digital camera and took closeup pictures of almost every barcode, put them on the computer, then printed them out for my officers. Now all they have to do is sit on their butts and scan codes on the paper instead of actually doing anything! :D
They love me now.
Anyway, just wanted to rant a little, sorry about that. I'm SO happy to be out of there... I can finally relax and take a much-needed vacation for at least a couple of weeks. I thought about heading for Oahu... ;)
Yikes... :(
Sounds like you really got screwed on your vacation.
I get 4 weeks of base vacation and 2 personal days. :D
Have you ever thought about a generic office job?
I got lucky and found Randstad (corporate temping) and found a position as a Bankruptcy Documentation Specialist (glorified paper pusher) at Citigroup back in 2001.
Long story short I was lucky because our department went from 60 employees to 350 in 4 short years.
I went from a document person, to a specialist in 6 months, to a supervisor in 1.5 years, to a Manager/VP in 4 years.
Not saying results are typical but I dont think I would have had the same opprotunity in the same small company I was with before.
