I did a google on "2008 jetta diesel" and read some reviews of the soon to be available new TDI's... The new engine is supposed to be way cleaner, 40% more HP and 33% more torque, and possibly even better mileage (into the 50's highway...) Sounds like a pretty good deal all the way around.. I think they are supposed to be around 3rd qtr this year....

The day I bought my diesel F250 was the same day diesel prices started the climb to approximately 20% higher than unleaded. www.fortworthgasprices.com shows cheapest diesel around my neighborhood at 3.33/gal. Compare that to unleaded price of 2.80/gal. and 50mpg with diesel costs the same as 42mpg unleaded.

My daily driver/work car is a Jetta TDI (hence the siggy).
I drive for a living and don't believe there is a better car, all around, for what I do.
I'm curious to see if the '08 TDI's live up to there mpg stats. If you want more info on TDI's, go to the largest TDI forum in the world.
I would be highly interested if they put the TDI in a Golf (Rabbit now I guess).
Can't beat the utility of a hatch.

After my experience with Honda, I wouldn't want anything off the norm from them. I don't think they have nearly as much experience in building diesels and would be leary of having another product similar to the late 70's early 80's GM diesel cars.Quote:
