Got a high mileage shifter?
Yes, we all know about changing out the round, plastic bushing at the base of the shifter assembly. It's a normal thing, right?
Well, don't go neglecting the rectangular one on the side of the fulcrum ball while you're in there. I've had the stock shifter from my '90 sitting on the desk waiting for attention for a little while and finally got around to taking care of upkeep on it.
Take a peek at new vs. 198k on the side bushing:
