I was pretty set to buy a battery, then I found out the Miata doesn't have the common wet cell used in most cars from the same era. Can I buy a battery for my 92 locally in DFW, or will I have to order it?

I bought mine at Autozone...
There have been a few discussions on batteries in the past so a little "Search", might be in order.
I know there is this thing about batteries with vent tubes
I picked up one at autozone as well.
I have a good used battery I took out of a wrecked car I bought FOR SALE. I have kept it on a trickle charger since I removed it. Brand is Durolast and is a Miata specific battery with the two vent hose fittings. I keep thinking since I have 5 Miatas that I will need it, but I would sale it just the same. I do not know how old it is, but would take $30 for it. Never had an issue charging. Naturally it worked fine before the car went South. You can test it and if for any reason you are not happy I would be glad to give you your money back. I live in Plano.

I bought a new battery at O'Reilys recently for about $95, so trackdog's offer sounds like a good deal.
I also have a Westco but I need to trickle charge it and test it. Go with Gary's offer. Then I can use his charger to test my spare. ;)
I just had my five year old WestCo give up and the car would not start if left sitting two days in a row.
I got a 8MU1R from Auto Zone in The Colony yesterday afternoon.
Good warranty and three years free jump start but who needs that.
$95.00 installed and the vents all fit perfect.
If I had seen Track Dogs post I would have been in Plano on the way home.
I wish I had ask Gary before I bought mine online last month. What a TCB deal! I got my WESTCO online for $95!
I changed plugs and wires last night, and installed battery I picked up from Gary after work, my car started right up.
No more hesitation, great idle, and I still haven't used the seafoam yet.
My wife took the car for a quick spin in our neighborhood, and came back with a huge smile, I think she wants one too.
