Looking for an OTM for a college kid

Some friends of the family want me to help them hunt down a car for their daughter in college. Right now she's got a Saturn SC2 with a blown head gasket (they think) and a big repair bill down in Nacogdoches. I recommended a Miata (obviously :rolleyes:), but they want her to have a little sedan so she can haul her crap back and forth. Go figure.

Anybody got something like an old Protege in the $3-4K range that you're looking to unload? I'm waiting on a couple of callbacks from Auto Trader ads, but thought I'd check here in the meantime.

My brother is in the process of getting rid of his 92' Saturn for an 89' Civic. I'd be looking at civics personally or even 96+ Accords for that price range.

So far, the Hondas I've checked out both had "suspicious" pedigrees and appeared to have been repainted with a brush in a sandstorm, but I'm keeping my eyes open for deals. BTW, it has to be an automatic... grrrr.
