Please help...

Hello,

My friend's Miata was broken into last night. They stole his radio and Ipod. In the process, they tore a huge hole in his top. It was a really nice canvas top with glass and defrost in almost new condition.

He doesn't have the internet, so he asked me to see if anyone local happened to have a similar top for sale. The car is a 93 white NA and the top was tan canvas with glass window. So if anyone has anything like this just laying around, shoot me a PM and I'll get back to you ASAP.

If the price is right, he might be interested in a hard top instead. His budget is $275 for a good condition canvas top on frame or $600-700 for a hard top.

He wants to get this done as soon as possible, so if we don't get any offers within the week, we'll probably get a decent top off of Ebay and fix it that way.

FYI...an NB top/frame will fit too.

There's a parts car on CL that has a new top for sale.

I have a black top from a 1993 (from Robert Jones' red car for those of you familiar with it) that I removed when I bolted the hard top onto the car when making it a track-only car

age and origin unknown but Robert might know

reasonably clear plastic/vinyl (not glass or a solid piece) window, still on the frame

would sell for $100 cash picked up in Grapevine

That's why I NEVER lock my Boxster or Miata. A new top is a whole lot harder and more::1Dollar:::1Dollar: to replace than a radio. Plus i don't leave anythin of value in them anyways.

That doesn't always work. I had my radio stolen (actually broken, then abandoned hanging from the dash) last fall. I removed the radio and had a gaping hole in the middle of the dash. Three or four days later, somebody slashed my top from left window to right window (doors were unlocked, radio was already gone) and took three or four dollars worth of change out of my car (my hungry and desperate stash). Frankentop still seals well, though. For the record, cops were completely useless both instances, and one actually took an attitude with me for filing a report.

I even told him not to lock his doors when he got the car. Oh well... sometimes you have to live to learn.
