Hi all,
I'm new to my NB and lo and behold, my battery dies after sitting through Ike. The tie down bolt spins, but won't undo. Is there a nut underneath the car?
Thanks,
David

I don't think there's anything under it. Doesn't the NB use a 'wedge' of some sort with a bolt thru the middle of it? May be stripped or corrroded.
I think there is a nut either welded to the underside or sandwiched in the sheet metal there. I would guess if it is loose then it would just spin.
You talking about this bolt?
Looks like on my '02 that you can't really get to the weld nut from under the car. I pulled the bolt and it doesn't look like there isn't any easy access.
It looks like is lined up with one of the supports and appears as if the nut is that support... :(
I did put some anti-seize on that bolt before I put it back in the car.
I just took the bolt out after about 30 minutes of effort (long screw driver to pry up the nut and a drill to unbolt it). Check out the pictures. :) The nut is underneath the floor and it's one of those weldnuts. I am afraid that nut is stripped too.
What do you guys suggest I do going forward? Would a new bolt get stripped in the weldnut or would it cut new threads?
Thanks,
David
BTW how do you attach images? I put hotlinks into my post.
