When I tried to start my car this morning, the clutch pedal did nothing. I looked under the hood and the clutch master cylinder was dry. There is fluid under the car on the slave cylinder side. I rebuild the slave cylinder last summer.
Does anyone want to try to talk me out of replacing the slave cylinder? Any thoughts on the O'Reilly Auto Parts replacement?
I feel lucky that I made it home last night. And didn't crash into the garage when I got home.

If you rebuilt it and it failed it's time for a new one. The bore is probably nasty and pitted.
And I'd say go ahead and do both the master and slave while you're at it - stuff like that seems to go out in pairs.

Totally agree with sammmy. Fortunately the slave is easy to replace. I'd guess the master should outlive the slave 2 or 3 times; the slave has a more hostile environment.Quote:
