Just put in all new boots, bushings and oil. The old boots were shredded to pieces, just 2 rings. There was also NO oil in the turret. Now she shifts ss smoothly and easily. Definitelymy favourite self given xmas gift, lol.
What shall I get next..... inexpensive suggestions anyone?
All synthetic fluids. I went with Royal Purple in the trans and diff, made a world of difference. BTW Fram makes a "Tough Guard" premium oil filter now (at Wally World) that has the antiflow back valve. It cured the clatter at startup to an unbelievable extent. Have you done the shocks and bumpstops yet? Get that radiator thingy installed?

The only filter I'd buy without an integral check valve is an air filter. But I'd never buy a Fram.
Radiator thingie is kind of installed.... i need to get more hardware to secure it better. As for the shocks and bumpstops thats more of a save up for item.... im betting $4-500 to replace, correct?
If you want to keep the stock springs then grab a set of the KYB AGX or the Koni Sports. The AGX you can get for about $360 give or take a few bucks and the Koni's apparently go for $133 each from Gary at Track Dog. If you want to go more aggressive than the stock springs then I'd just wait and get the Tien Flex ($1400) or something similar...a complete coilover setup or you'll be in the position I am in.
When I first got my Miata I went with the AGX shocks and the terrible, recalled and went to a new manufacturer FM springs for the NA. I got a discount on the Ground Control coil over kit, which works great with the AGX shocks, but if I were starting off fresh and didn't already have half the set up I would've waited an extra paycheck or two and save up for the full coilover setup. Do it right the first time! Just figure out what you want out of the car first...

Guy got bored and blew $40 on some cheap crap. They will not work with factory style shocks, so you would have to buy a nice set of performance shocks. In that case would be better to just save and spend the extra cash on a reputible, high quality product that is proven. BTW, I had a similar Ebay kit on my track car and they suck! You get what you pay for, even if it works at first doubt they will last long.Quote:

I ponied up for the Ford Motorcraft Full Synthetic tranny fluid before Hallett. That stuff is bad-ass and has solved all of my cold-weather shifting problems. I can actually drop back down into 2nd on a cold morning without a precise double-clutch!

I'm supposed to be saving money..... I got a 5k bonus and I haven't spent a penny of it. My girlfriend is proud of me.... I wish I didn't have to be responsible at times....
I've had good luck with Redline MT90 on the track so far. It cured the grinding synchro problem I had going up to 3rd with the royal purple that was in there before. But I don't drive the car on the street so I can't address that aspect.
