Although I've never had raccoon, I wouldn't have a problem eating it. Squirrel is tasty, as long as you don't think about the fact that it is just a rat with good PR and a bushy tail.

If it's a clean and healthy animal then there's no big deal in eating it. Same goes for rat, cat, dog, possum, nutria, and others, although I don't think I could eat dog.
Okay, ya'll are on. I came face to face with one as big as my truck tire the other day, found him sleeping in the tack room part of one of our barns. If he's still there next time, I'll cook him up for the next gtg and leave one paw on so channelmaniac won't have to worry about eating any stray dogs.::StirTheP

Growing up in Louisiana, you never ask what is served, until after supper. ;)
I often had Deer, Squirrel, Rabbit, Possum, Nutria rat, Frog, Turtle, Alligator, Duck, Wild Turkey, Boar hog, Rattlesnake and lots I am forgetting.
In La. you learn to eat all kinds of good stuff.
Waaay back in the 70s, I had a neighbor who hunted squirrels that dared enter his yard. He went so far as to clean & hang the skins in the living room.
My mom claims to've eaten dog while in Vietnam...also in the early 70s. Apparently it has a rather interesting (and, to her, unsavory) texture. She'd definitely agree with Rogue, since she grew up in a little delta town called Golden Meadow.
Of the few things I've tried that didn't come from the local meat counter, the 'gator, rabbit & shark were the best. Snake was...so-so. Wish I could recall what kind it was.
When it comes to Raccoon, I'll just have to take the zero, guys.
I have some Nyala sausage I could add to the Raccoon picnic.
Back around 1990, I used to frequent a place in Waco that, rumor had it, was supposedly shut down for serving dog. Best burritos I ever ate.
I also lived in Lake Chuck, LA/Orange, TX in the late 1990's. I only ate what I could tell what it was. Alligator didn't taste that bad, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. Some of the best catfish I ever ate was at Pat's of Henderson in Lake Charles.
