I was leaving work today and put my key into the trunk lock and it bent (twisted) 90 degrees. Thankfully I was able extract the key from the lock.
Being as I didn't have a spare key and needed to get to class, I gently bent the key back, used some pliers to flatten it and gently unlocked the passenger door successfully.
Risking a new ignition, I also was able to start the car and drive to school. I turned the car off but the key was stuck in the ignition. ::Censor::
I little finesse and again, I successfully extracted the very broken key a third time. My wife brought me a spare key after class.
Word of warning, inspect your keys! I was unaware of any problems with my key but it bent VERY easily. Also, if you can, carry a spare key.
