Hey all, I prefer to be called Reign (yes i'm female) , I'm 24 and I live in North Dallas.
A friend of mine, David Hedderick, actually hinted me to this site and I joined a while ago as none of my nearby friends are actually miata enthusiasts. bastards. lol. I own a 97 Miata, her name is Torrent and she is actually umm, sitting right now cause she needs a little tlc and i'm down on my luck at the moment. I have to say, that I am so eager to get back on the road with her for the fact that when I'm behind her wheel, blasting the music and shifting her gears, damn, there is no feeling that is more powerful. If it was allowed, I would marry Torrent. lol I'm kidding. Or am I?:burnrubr:

As far as I know it's REALLY simple stuff.
The oil pan needs to be replaced, or fixed, cause the jackass who last changed my oil at a shop decided to be an idiot and used an impact to tighten the bolt so now the bolt is stripped and there's a big crack in the oil pan.

I've had four guys try to remove the oil filter and none of them have been able to *smirks* and so I've been holding onto the new oil filter for quite some time. The radiator needs to be flushed but that's so simple a baby can do it. *rolls eyes* And I've got to replace the middle part of the dashboard where the radio USED to be, until someone jerked it out and so now I no longer have a hazards light button or that one little fun button that makes the eyes of Torrent go up and down. Oh yeah and I have to replace the drivers side window cause someone busted it out.

That's just the bigger stuff that concerns me, there's other little things but I'll take care of those later. Geez, I haven't even had time to visit a junk yard...

I ended up putting up a message at the end of all these posts but started a new thread. *mumbles* at least i figured out how this works.... BUT at the same time I forgot to say that my tools are limited to the most basic of supplies and an oil pan that holds what you drain. .... Drain it like you mean it.

So you are an oil pan, oil pan gasket, and labor away from driving it? Car-part.com lists an oil pan in Fort Worth for $65. I don't know if Mazda Heaven would beat it.

You might also check with Track Dog Racing to see if they have a replacement pan for you. They have all sorts of goodies lurking on the shelves...and they're local!

The oil filter wrench is a necesity after a oil change shop gets their hands on it. Autozone has Lisle oil filter wrenchs for about $12 last I checked. It's a Lisle part number 63600. You will need to have a 3/8" socket wrench to work this as well.

For the oil drain plug, temorarily, you could get a rubber expanding plug, if you are able to get the other one out. If you still have threads on the pan, you could also get an oversized plug.

Most of these guys will work for beer. Just call for a Tech day.

Oil filer pliers have saved me before. They hook INTO the filter itself and destroys it, but the grip is unbeatable. Saw some at Autozone.
