My A/C quit (really, sweating is a good thing...)
My A/C has been adequate but unimpressive since I bought the car - chalk it up to a slow leak and "they all do that" Miata A/C. I've been able to keep it going with a little extra hit of 134 each spring (not even a full can/year). That plan has worked fine so far, but the A/C finally crapped the bed this weekend. It got really weak about a week ago, so I stopped at VatoZone for a can of 134 and a cheater hose. Topped it off in the parking lot and I was back to ice-cold in 5 minutes. That went away fairly quickly, and by Saturday morning it was completely dead again. Went to my buddy's house and we pulled a vacuum on the system - it held for about a minute (if that). Our guess is a bad o-ring (since it's been mostly working for the last 3 years), so I figure I'm going to either A) replace all the o-rings, see if it holds a vacuum, then recharge the system; or B) drive with the top down, work on my tan, and cheap out till next spring.
In the meantime, I figure now is as good a time as any to sweat out any and all toxins that might be circulating in my system.
Are there any common problem areas/leaks I should be looking for in the A/C system?
