This is a known problem. It happened to my 99 too. It is always on the right side! Accroding to Sammm, you can only get it from the stealership.
Another place to try would be the junkyard.

The Miatas at Mazda Heaven were picked clean a few weeks back. Luckily I was there for the Protege that day.
