Dunno if it'll bomb... but it at least hit an interesting price point between the iPhone and their laptops. I think I'll wait and see if they do like they did on the first iPhones and drop the price in 6 months.
To me it looks like a giant clown-sized iPhone that doesn't make phone calls, so I'm out. However, one of my Mac buddies is so gaga over this thing that I thought he was going to pee his pants when it came out.
Good morning :D
I dont think itll catch on really, its just a big ipod touch, yahoo did a good story about it specs look ok but Id rather buy an Ipod touch than that.
Half the Apple fanboys I know can't see any reason for it. If they aren't buying it, the unbelievers certainly won't either.
$499 for a giant 16GB ipod touch? My phone has a 16GB card in it. Add another $130 if you want 3G wireless? Why not tether my phone to a netbook? Oh wait, Apple people don’t know what tethering is, do they? ;)
With a 1GB processor, 16GB of memory (you can get a whopping 64GB if you shell out $699), an iphone operating system (which can’t run multiple applications at once, something even Windows 3.1 was capable of doing), and no real keyboard, I honestly can't see a single compelling reason to buy this over any garden variety $300 netbook.
Looks awkward to hold and easy to scratch. So I would need some protective cover and some insulation from the battery heat I would guess. No thanks.
The new iPad...

Haha Awesome ^^^^^^
Well I know that I want one, but only if it can do a few things.
1. Type word/pages documents
2. Watch videos not purchased on the itunes store
For me, the ipad makes quite a bit of sense as I can take it to class to take notes etc..., and my laptop is getting a little bit old and ragged even though it still works flawlessly.
However, if you do not often need a laptop for its mobile abilities then the ipad would not work for you, but here at school I carry mine everywhere so the ipad could just be a better solution for what I need.
Does it support handwriting?
From what I've seen, it has the same gimpy keyboard as the iPhone, only larger - numbers and punctuation are displayed on a separate keyboard. It does have a hookup for an external keyboard, but at that point wouldn't you just get a netbook/laptop???
Looks like a Kindle meets iPhone. Hey! You got your chocolate in my peanut butter! Jobs must be a Reeces fan...
Only he forgot the chocolate...no E-ink technology...
I can see students wanting this because of it's size - light weight/portable. Download books AND video (as long as it's not Flash) and take notes in class. Better than carrying around bulky heavy books AND a laptop.
From an article called "10 Things iPad is missing":
"There are two kinds of people who will buy the iPad. One, nerds like you and me, who care about things like HDMI and also already own a computer that can do that. And two, people who are buying this instead of a computer. Those people will probably still have DVD collections, or even VCRs and they don't know what HDMI is. "
