Good luck going to the dealer. Hancock could not cut one for my 1990 after 2 attempts. Find a good locksmith to do it. There's a good locksmith in Rowlett that can do it right for you. They are on the south side of highway 66 east of Rowlett Road.
I had one cut by the Wallie World at Rowlett. It works ok.
Went to the local locksmith and got keys for my wife's Caddy for less than half the cost at the stealership.
Yea I have had a few people say I should go over to Rowlett and get it done so I guess I will try there, the key was about 20 bucks lol so I dont want it messed up. (im sure I could buy it soemwhere else but it was shipped from Tiwan lol)

I had 3 made for my 1990 at Bees Keys at Lovers lane/ Inwood here in Dallas. I've used them for keys for years, never had an issue.
Alright Ill try walmart then I hope they dont mess it up :P
With an expensive hard to get original blank, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. I think others that have recommended a locksmith have the right idea. I would feel a lot more comfortable with the having the work done by someone who makes a living working with keys, vs a $8/hr Walmart employee that cuts 3 or 4 keys a week.Quote:

just go to a locksmith... sheesh. It doesn't cost more. in fact, I think my Miata keys were $7 a piece...... less than the $8 at walmart...... and they work, lol
Well thats my plan this weekend, new seats, top, rims, fender, key, thermostat....i think im forgetting someting but who knows.

I've always had good luck with smaller hardware stores (Ace, in particular). When I first bought my car, I had Town North cut a genuine Mazda key and it was a disaster. The copy they made would only work the driver's door and the ignition (barely). I stuck it in the trunk and almost twisted it in half. The copy I had made at Ace works flawlessly. I used the Ace down on Marsh at Walnut Hill.
I just had a key cut at Town North, they cut it off the VIN so you know it's correct. Works perfect in all my locks.
