Shop Suggestions for A/C Work

With summer right around the corner I'm trying to get my A/C up and running on my Miata. I need to replace the dryer and have it evacuated and re-charged anyone have any suggestions for shops in the west Fort Worth area or Weatherford??

ETA-I've already checked with the Firestone total car care place down the street from the Base and a few other shops right around the base and the lowest price I've gotten so far with a evacuate and recharge with R134A conversion, and dryer replacement is 400 bucks. That's pretty high. I'm tempted to run down to autozone and pick up the R134A conversion kit and try it myself however I dont' have a vacum pump to evacuate the system.

I bet your system is already empty. I did the conversion myself, but did have it evacuated to make sure. When re charging I found my leak. A liittle o-ring at the top of the compressor.

My buddy has a pump like this that we've used to evacuate A/C systems. It's cheap and does the job just fine. If you had one of those and a set of gauges, it would be an easy DIY job.

As for a shop recommendation, this guy isn't anywhere close to you, but he's good and cheap - especially for a quick 'n' dirty recharge.

I called a guy I used to work for back in High School. He has a Machine Shop that I worked in. He has a vacum pump and a set of gauges so I orderd a drier on Rockauto and am going to Autozone to pick up a R134A Retrofit kit tonight when I order my front wheel hub and I'm going to do it on one of the days I have off.

So on that note if anyone has any suggestions on what to do or not to do or any specific things I need to know about doing this to the Miata please let me know I'll be greatful :)

That's where my leak was too.

Now would be a good time to replace all of the o-rings since the system is going to be empty. Also, pull the condenser coil and flush it out really well. I used electric parts cleaner since it leaves no residue. You want to try to get as much of the old oil out of the system as possible since the R12 and R134A don't mix.
