Singing Kettle

Do I have a vacuum leak? or something else? I have CEL P1170 and one of the causes of this CEL is vacuum leak. When I jab the gas pedal down real quick, like cutting into another lane, I hear this high pitch noise similar to the noise from the boiling water of the "singing kettle". It comes from the driver side. When I “roll the pedal” I do not hear this noise. It only comes when I jab the gas pedal. It comes at all RPM ranges as long as I jab the gas pedal. The noise stays there as long as the RPM keep increasing and I keep my foot in. Any suggestion of where this noise coming from and how I can find this out. I do have a stethoscope.

Drivers side wouldn't that be an exhaust leak?

Could this be the EGR tube?

Could be, maybe put a little seafoam in it and see if you get any smoke from the exhaust or EGR tube when you rev it up. (not on public roads this time please) ;-)

Although I eat rice everyday, I am not the "ricer" yet! LOL, it is pretty cheap for a "almost turbo" mod! ;-)

You could have a leak in the brake booster diaphragm I suppose. That's a pretty far out suggestion but you have tried everything else.

When I used to need to find a leak, I would get a cigarette, light it, stick it in my mouth backward, and blow outward toward the engine, or inhale deeply from my pipe and gently exhale the smoke. Leaks in the intake track would result in smoke being drawn inward, and leaks in the exhaust track would result in weird smoke patterns near the leak. I haven't had to do that in a while, but I would probably use a cigar if I had to do it these days.

I never got a blister doing it, but I'm not saying it is the smartest/safest way.

i chased a vac leak and read a tip in one of the manuals. use wd-40 with the red tube and squirt it around where you think you have a leak. you will hear a difference if you find one..
