Attachment 4567Finally got around to getting the Momo steering installed that miataspeedracer had up for sale in January.
It is so much nicer than the OEM wheel!
Here is what I learned from this experience:
Momo has different sized horn buttons for their different steering wheels. They are not interchangeable. You either need a large or small horn button depending on the horn button trim ring. Momo USA has a decent selection of horn buttons and horn button trim rings you can buy.
There's a reason the plug-n-play hub adapter cost twice as much money as the standard hub adapter. If you screw up the plastic bits you must trim for the install, it can cost you a lot of money or a trip to the salvage yard. Luckily, my install went well, but the instructions on the pointy board could be a bit more detailed. Also, you cannot reinstall the OEM wheel once you trim all the plastic bits without a lot of work.
You might as well go ahead and order the hub adapter spacer ring when you order the standard Momo hub adapter. I will be placing my order this week. You need the extra room to keep your fingers from bumping the turn signal and wiper stalks.
Attached is the wheel installed. It has a different feel which I like and the wheel takes slightly more effort to turn due to the smaller diameter.
