Well I need to get a portable for work!
I haven't bought a computer in a couple of years so I got no clue what I should even be looking at in a portable.
The absolute maximum I will spend is $500.00.
I run Microsoft Office & Quick-books and of course surf the interweb. ;)
I know many of you are computer peeps so what should I be looking at?

Size? How much are you going to be carrying it around? How long do you need it to go on battery?

can also check http://www.dell.com/outlet you will get the best deal there but only look at the site when you have cash ready as the pc you see will be gone in a few minutes.

i have a logitech bluetooth 10 key i'll send you.
Get an external keyboard and mouse and leave them at work. That way you have a full size keyboard, comfortable mouse and portability. You will HATE lugging around an 8#+ laptop that requires a rolly case.Quote:

Woot seems to have notebooks under 500 every couple of weeks or so.
That's not a standard laptop backpack. I have an Ogio I've used for about 6 years now and my new "15.4" laptop (with the 10 key) won't fit into the laptop zipper section as it's too big. There's no way a 17 or 18 will fit. My old 15" fit though.Quote:

Based on what you're doing I would say MacBook, even if you just ran windows instead of osx
WalMart has a nice Toshiba for $400. I almost bought one myself...
