Depending on how much you are willing to spend, I would look into a front loader washer frigidare washer and dryer at Conns. I think they still have the combo advertised frequently for $599-699/pair. I have had mine for 4 years and my mom has had hers for 6-7 years with no issues.
My wife just put her swanky Maytag set up on Craigslist... but we're over in Tyler.
You can take the Miata at the same time!

There should be tons of stuff on CL, I could barely give mine away when I bought my new set. There should be some deals around the holidays too. I managed to pay about $750.00 after some price matching and Bing cashback on a new pair of front loading energy efficient LG's from Best Buy.
Thanks for all the replies. We're looking at dent & scratch stuff and such, but she just spent a bunch of bucks on her car and that used her washer/dryer funds, so I was just asking based on things like what Cosmo just said.

Back when the wife and I were just starting out we went to the laundromat.
It is like having a washer and dryer without having to actually own a washer and dryer! ;)
These young kids today and there fancy washers and dryers and furniture we didn't have any of that crap. We we moved into our first place we had a 13" color TV and a spool, some milk crates, and 2 bean bag chairs and we were happy. ::hal::
Btdt!
Said the man with 4 cars, 3 TVs, 6 computers, and a dog...
Amy can do the laundromat if needed, but where's the convenience and safety in that?
I've added some stuff over the 20+ years since we started out. ;-)
