Does a PS3 count?
Get a Blu-Ray instead of a DVD.

I think mine is a samsung (I'll check tonight when I get home). We use it for netflix all the time, it works great.
I bought a Vizio at first (was cheapest I could find) but it wouldn't keep the network PW in memory like it was supposed to, and kept dropping the wifi signal. I took it back for the one I have right now, and have had no issues since.
You won't get Blu Ray quality via the streaming, but its as good as a normal DVD, IMO.
ETA: Mine is a blue ray player also.
I have a samsung blue-ray/DVD w/ wifi that works great. We use it all the time to watch netflix.
Here's a nice Sony on sale at Best Buy for $140.

Who offers the best movie selection via the internet?
How fast of an interweb do we need for these to work effectively?
Anyone messed with Apple TV??
I have middle-of-the-road speed DSL. I can stream Netflix (via a home made DVR) across my wireless network, no problems.
I stream across my wireless without a problem too. I

This is the one to get. Wifi, 3d, fast loading, netflix, pandora, etc. It has good reviews. Everyone has is for $139 including Best Buy, Sony Style store, etc.
I swore I would never spend over $100 for a blu ray, so I got this one. No wifi, but I don't need it. I wanted a Sony to go with the XBR HDTV I have.
I think I've tested faster before...

Your ultimate need may be different than mine. I ended up with a cheap ($375) laptop with DMI and WIFI to stream Netflix and other internet free video contents. It is cheaper than Apple TV and other dedicated streaming devices. Plus you have a real laptop that can be used for something else. I got mine at Frys. Lately they have 15" laptop for around $350 on sale every week.
One thing about streaming speed and Netflix. Netflix auto-detect the band width you have and adjust the quality of the content. If you have very low speed, you could end up with 420 instead of the best 720 video.
Like Gabriel said Netflix will work at almost any speed. It will just quality until you are basically watching youtube on your TV. I would say at 1.5 you are borderline. That is what I had before and while the quality wasn't bad it wasn't great, it did hog the entire pipe. So if Jena was watching netflix I couldn't use the internet to surf or play games at all. You can upgrade to probably 5 or 6mb for just a few bucks a month.
