Time for front hubs?
On Friday, I had my tires replaced. Today, while driving, I would occasionally hear a clunk-type noise near the front passenger wheel when I would suddenly apply brakes and/or turn sharply. The noise was similar to what I would have expected if the wheel lugs or brake mounting bolts weren't tight, and would only happen once per braking event or turn.
I checked all of the lugs after the first couple of times I heard it, and they were tight. When I got home, I removed the wheel, checked the brake mounting bolts, (they were tight,) and replaced the wheel.
Assuming the clunk doesn't go away, would it be a reasonable assumption that it is time to replace the hub? If so, does anyone have any problems with the Timken 513152?
Thanks for the advice.

Was there any play in the hub?
I replaced my front hub on my '94 with Timken works good so far! ;-)

I didn't notice any play in the hub, but I didn't check it with the wheel off of the ground. While on the ground, I pushed and pulled on the tire to see if I could get the noise to duplicate, and felt no play.
As I only heard it while driving, I can't be real sure of exactly where it is coming from. I'm guessing hub just by the sound and when it occurs. It could be suspension related, but I couldn't come up with a scenario where I would get a suspension clink/clunk noise from turning or braking.

That doesn't sound like a wheel bearing to me, I think something is loose or worn. Bad wheel bearings almost always have pad knock-back, a humm, or a vibration you can feel through the floorboard.

Thanks!
What do you mean by "pad knock-back"?

Swaybar? Endlinks? Just a thought..
