Well, it looks like I won't have to worry about birds pooping on the deck any more. Mister Rat Snake - we'll call him Bruce - just cleaned the sucker out.

Yep rat snake....

Sooooo... this guy is still hanging around. I saw him poke his sleepy head out of the bird house a while ago. Do I just leave him be and hope he gets an appetite for squirrels? I have to say that I'm not terribly thrilled with the idea of a three-foot snake dropping out on to the deck without warning...

From what I read i'd leave him there, apparently they aren't venomous and won't attack you unless provoked. Bonus is no birds.

Yea leave it...in the old days people would get rat snakes and let them lose in there Attic...the snake would clean the house completely of all rats and then find it's own way out of ur house....it was the best mouse trap...they are completely harmless...even when they bite u it barley hurts...
