Pulled out of my driveway yesterday and noticed the truck was riding a little rough, then something started making a big "WHAP WHAP WHAP WHAP" noise when I turned on to Kingsley. Looked in the mirror and noticed a big ol' flap of alligator hide thwacking the side of the bed. Whoops! Luckily I was only a block from home so I made it back to assess the damage. The tire is still holding air, but the tread decided it had other plans...

Been autocrossing at the Mineralring with your truck? Seriously though, how old are the tries? It looks like it's dry rotted to hell and back.

Tell me about it. Both Miatas need tires. I'm running a staggered setup of 6ULs and 99 15" wheels because both sets had a corded tire. Widow can wait on tires obviously but I wasn't expecting to have to get new tires for the checker car. The Khumo AST's only lasted about 20k.

The one in the pic is the oddball BFG Long Trail. It had the most tread but the worst weathercracking. The other three are some kind of Goodyears that don't look a hell of a lot better. Going to try and find some lightly used takeoffs, but failing that I'll probably head to Sam's.

I have BFG Long Trails on my full size conversion van and they have worn well. Just make sure you buy a tire specifically designed for trucks.
