No. I have to see the NA/NC bumper in person, I'm still not entirely sold on it. I would LOVE to go the NA-NB route Stevan has, and told/asked him I plan to one day, but it will probably never actually happen. Maybe if I ever feel the need to do the body work that the car desperately needs.
I meant the front bumper in the picture (it was a joke - I can't stand when people drive around with no front bumpers). I had the car running checking for fluid and vacuum leaks when I noticed the tank was nearly empty. With year+ old gas. All my gas cans have some ratio of premix in there, so I put the car on the ground and drove to the gas station. Stock bumper was put back on an hour or so after I returned home (remind me to lift the front of the car next time..)

I depowered the power rack. I just did it the ghetto way for now - removed pump, lines, reservoir, drained and capped the lines. I was going to drop the rack and do it the proper way, but I wanted to get the car running instead of adding more projects to the list. Just before I get new tires and an alignment I will pull it and cut that piece out of it. But the few miles I drove it in the rain felt great.
If you want to stop by when it's not raining or snowing and see what it feels like, you're more than welcome. Might be a good way to gauge if you want to do it the quick and easy way or fully commit and disassemble your rack.
I'm converting power-steering racks to manual these days with a welded pinion coupler. Email me if you want to do an exchange since I have a spare NA and spare NB completed, ready to exchange.
Awesome. I might have to take you up on that soon. I need front tires very soon, but the rain/snow means I'm probably putting the car away for winter. I'll bother you when I'm at that point to see if you still have it - the welded pinion was something I was curious about, but didn't really want to bother trying to find a place to do it.
I also wanted to trouble you for the knock headphones I remember you offered to lend someone here awhile ago too. So I'll be in touch eventually.
When I looped the lines, it was better but I had a ton of slop in the wheel and after a few days at the track I had significant wear/play in the pinion coupler, about 10* to the right, none to the left for some reason. You also still have pressure in the looped lines. When you grease it and add however much force you want with the rack guide, you'll be happy. I added a lot of tension to mine becuase I like the "heavy Porsche feel" over a light wheel, it's easier to set the car on corner entry and maintain it over bumps.Quote:

With the metal upper and lower shock mounts, baller shocks with lots (right amount) of rebound force, 700/400lb springs, poly bushings 225s on 9s, depowered, and 949 alignment, the car is insanely easy to drive on the track. There is no more slop-anticipation on turn-in for trail braking, it's loaded up all the time and there is no squirm. The best way to descirbe it is "like driving on tank treads".
yeah yeah. ;) I still have the GC with stiffer springs and AGX from 2003 (uneducated purchase before I even owned the car), so I'm not overly worried about the suspension right now. That's before body work, but still after I graduate. As much as I know I need it all, $5k on suspension for a full-time engineering home-owning student that is the sole income for himself and his full-time Master of OT student fiance isn't in the cards right now. Would probably be if there wasn't a wedding to be paid for in 5 months. One day.
And I've driven nonpowered Miata racks, just never a depowered one. Guess I should have been more clear on that one.
That's pretty much my Susp setup rob but I don't have the GC..I'm planing on doing koni yellows with 700F 400R GC sleeves..for this new year and see how she does
Brg how much do u charge with exchange on the depowered rack?
I want to say that's the spring rate I have. I got whatever the next "normal" higher GC spring rates were that still work OK with the AGX. I think the standard ones are 350 rear? I forget..it's been 8 years and a few months. I would have went with the Konis, but I got the AGX for free from work. Was that or pick up a set of TEIN coilovers. Turbo kit and GC/free AGX won out over just the TEINs.Quote:

Maybe! I ran the agx with flyin Miata springs all year and they were pretty competitive, I might even stick with agx and just change over to GC, so I can get another inch lower out of my car...
If you stick with the AGX make sure to stuff cut up pieces of hose between the collars and the shock bodies. Unless you like loud rattles.
