I am wanting to put a quick release racing steering wheel on my 1999 Miata. On E-bay I see many ranging in price from $50 to $350 for the wheel, hub and quick release combo. Any suggestions as to what I should get?

Just curious....why?
ebay is a nono for getting parts.
Not necessarily. I'm sure some of the resident track rats will chime in on this.
I am too tall and my legs are always compressed against the steering wheel. A smaller steering wheel will help.
Ebay FTW!
Finally a tilt wheel for the Miata!
Fully adjustable on the fly.
Are they legal for street use?
Can't see why they wouldn't be. Have you seen what else is street-legal?

I had one on my BUR. Loved it.
Most eBay QR hubs are junk. The big NRG hubs are good, my slim NRG is garbage but I suppose the wheel is still attached to the car. Works Bell is the best but they are $500.
I've got the large NRG hub and a Momo Mod 07 wheel and would recommend the combo. It's tight with no slop at all, has a very positive latch and release system and allows for the horn to be connected if you need it.
Last time I had the car inspected, the inspector mentioned something about not being able to use a smaller wheel than was stock.
The solution you're probably after is an adapter with added depth and a wheel with a bit more dish - it'll move the wheel closer to your lap and away from your knees.
