So I was going to order up a few oil filters for the fleet on RockAuto and I have run across something strange.
It shows for my '94 a Wix p/n of 51356 and for the '02 it shows a Wix p/n of 51365??
Should it show the same p/n for either car since they are both big block (aka 1.8 liter) Miatas??
You would think so. Don't know the Wix number I use off the top of my head but it's listed for a Millenia I think. fits the miata but has more capacity.
Hmmmm makes me wonder what I put on the POSIV at its last oil change....

Looks like the only difference is the height 2.577" vs. 3.402"
Interesting....maybe someones lysdexia was kicking in when they created the catalog.

Last time I ordered oil filters from Rock Auto, I found the WIX were different prices ($.35) for the '94 & '99. I thought they were the same part number.
I just use an empty Ro-Tel can stuffed with a couple of shop rags.

Get the 51356. It's actually for a Mazda Millenia but fits the NA/NB Miata. It is a slightly larger filter so more filter media. Not large enough to cause any drop in OP.
