Anyone ever heard of a bikini top for a Miata?
I've got about a square yard of vinyl left over after I recovered my doors and I was wondering about making a bikini top for the BUR. I've got some 4ft. long wood dowels to fashion some sort of inner side supports... I was thinking it would attach to the windshield frame up front and the roll bar out back...
Ideas?

Y'know, I've thought once or twice about doing something like that. Attaching it to the rollbar side should be relatively simple a couple of Velcro straps or similar), but hooking it to the header in a way that is secure yet easy to remove is going to be the tricky part.
i would imagine that teh wind would beat it and whip pretty good.
Have you seen one of these! It looks like it would do what you want! :shock:

Nah to heavy and cumbersome... besides, I love the way my car feels without it... I'm just looking for something to take the edge of the summer sun... and yes, I already have a favorite hat! :P
No clue on the top... I was just amused I clicked into this thread not sure what to expect, and then the 1st thing that caught my eye was your Avatar..

Maybe you could get a header from a car with a crashed top. Add the vinyl to it. Like altiain said the roll bar side would be easy.
What about snaps (like the rear-boot uses) or heavy-duty velcro attached to the inside of the windshield header?

What if you took the front bow from a top with the latches still attached. Use that for the front mount and attach the back with some bungee cords to give it tension? IIRC, that is sort of the way real bikini tops work.
