Motor Knock HELP(video link)

The story- My car had 190,xxx miles when I bought it and ran really solid. I drove the car pretty hard for the period it was running always made a small ticking noise. I did some extensive research as to why it(ticked) and found out it was most likely the valve guide. Then one day I went to the gas station, when I get back in my car it lost all power and would not go past 20 mph. Someone came to look at at it and said it had a bent valve but the guy never came back. So now my cars been in the garage for over 4 years and dont know if its still worth trying to fix the old motor or if I should just get a new motor.
I finally started the motor today after 4 years in the garage and this is what its like now. Please help me out and let me know what you think.

I think it's broke. TIme to rebuild it or find a donor.

Thats what I though and Ive been looking at two BP1.8L @ http://www.jdmenginescorp.com/engines/mazda/ .. Which one would be easier to put with my stock tranny?

doubt it's your problem but when mine was knocking (more of a popping) it was because the previous owner didn't tighten a sparkplug enough and it worked it's way loose. very easy to check, just push down on each plug cap and see if the noise changes.

Do a compression test You will then easily find which cylinder has the bent value.

That's a rod, lol. I'll have a dirt cheap 1994 core in the very near future. I won't take more than $100 for it if you pick it up mid April or so.

Bent rod or lifter. probably cheaper to put in a 1.8 if you have the equipment. I will die if my miata ever starts making that noise.

Not that loud and clanky-sounding. It's destroyed bearings.

Does the engine oil have pretty silver glitter in it?

I can't diagnose that sound by youtube. Is the engine running on 3 or 4 cylinders? If 4, crank bearing failure. If 3, valve train related.

It runs, so we can probably rule out a shattered piston and broken valves.

In the video, the valve cover looks unbolted. Is this intentional? For the sake of clarity, have you verified your timing belt alignment? Look at the oil, like John has advised. Also, look at the contents of your radiator just for fun. You gotta drain it anyway. Report back.

agreed. Any way he can take the bottom cover off and inspect the bearings without taking apart the whole engine? Although it would be much easier to just pull it and start taking it apart and do a rebuild.
