Got my new track car home and cleaned up a bit

So I like shiny. Even though its strictly a track car, i spent a lot of time with the buffer yesterday and got most of the scratches and swirls the car has picked up since 1994 out. I still need to add some paint sealant to the car and wax it, the shine is only paint and it already looks good. This is one of the turbo cars Keith Verges built, uses a FMII turbo at 12 psi.

lol, she's at camp. for some reason she is as fascinated by the trunk release on the outside of the car as the seat belts. it's turned out to be a play thing for her and her friends. the 3-year old next door said she loved riding in race cars (had three little girls in the passenger side when i backed the car out of the driveway to turn around and put it in the garage) and wished her daddy would get one too. i guess i've been forgiven for getting rid of the Mustang.

yeah a few of you on the other site mentioned that. i guess ill find out how well it holds up. keith has his yellow car the same way and it stays cool, hopefully mine will too.

The hole isn't what makes it stay cool, the ducted heat exchangers do that. If it runs cool without detonation, then who cares? I have a huge intercooler and a regular bumper and even in 103*f heat I've never seen more than 199*f on track at HHR behind a Panoz for 30+ minutes.

had some sort of failure on the car yesterday while keith was tuning it for me. it was 100% fine on track, ran great, great oil pressure. came off track to go over to keith's garage to let him tweak a few things in the tune and rolled through msr bike racing traffic. we had to stop to wait for the msr folks to move a truck blocking a gate and lost oil pressure. Keith said something must have stuck the oil pump open and the oil stopped flowing. long story short, it needs a new engine now. Keith is fixing it for me though, it's just a matter of how long before it's ready. man it was fast and handled great on the track though.

Really glad Keith is a stand up guy, he could have left me with a broken car, but he is fixing it.

Definitely great that you have a great seller. Sucks that you have to be without while a new motor is created.

yeah im supposed to help out with the ecr track day on the 23 too showing the new to the track guys the line. no car will make things problematic lol

Ask the Ford dealer for a loaner.

lol, tried that when they had the RS3 at the track once. i guess i could pop the hub caps off the daily and hoon it up. Automatic trans nissan altima has to be good for what, 3min lap at ECR.

edit: or a 2:10 with Ken driving.

Oil pump relief can stick open, bad things happen. These cars are wildly fun at 225whp+.

I couldn't for the life of me remember what he said, that is exactly it. Oil pump relief was the culprit. anyhow, he has another engine that is having all the seals and such replaced and going in the car. it may be ready this week, maybe i won't miss the track day on the 23rd. The car was insanely fun on the track, it felt every bit as quick as my Boss 302 in my hands. Granted it didn't leap off corners like the Boss did at 420whp and 380wtq.

I'd say take Hugo's four-eye, but I don't think it will turn corners. You could always thrash Michael's Shelby around the track. He doesn't open it up. :rolleyes:
