Window motor
How do I remove the window motor and cables from an NB? My passenger window will only move about an inch. I can't figure out why, yet, and want to remove the motor and cables so I can see where the binding is, and figure out whether I need a new motor or new cables. I tried a bit, today, but couldn't figure out how to disconnect the cables from the window.
Thanks,

I had a similar problem on mine a couple of years ago. just turned out to be a cable clamp broke and let one of the cables move over enough to get caught under the window. It would only roll down about an inch or two before getting caught. took a little trial and error because there isn't much clearance between the cable and window but I managed to use a zip tie to reattach the cable to the door frame. I've heard several people with this same issue so I guess it must be a fairly common problem.

There should be some doc on miata.net about the 'zip tie' fix for that issue.

It isn't the cable clamp. I had that problem on the driver's door last year. This problem is something else.

Do the NB switches have the same problems as the NA ones? Maybe check that you're getting continued voltage to the motor before you go pulling things apart?

I'm pretty sure it isn't the switches.

Took the door apart and fixed it, for now. One of the cables had a strand break, and that strand got tangled in the capstan. I removed that strand from the cable entirely and put everything back together. The capstand and cables will probably end up needing replaced in the near future due to the wear on the capstan, but it works for now.
