$29,500 for a salvage title NA (in a rare color, but repainted)

Might seem high now, but it would not surprise me if that car becomes one of the most valuable collector Miatas in the world at some point in the future. It is not just a "rare" color, it is 1 of 1. It has a documented history including multiple magazine articles. When you are talking 1 of 1, the fact that it was wrecked doesn't effect its value much given it has been totally restored correctly. It is my favorite "color car", and I wouldn't hesitate trading my supercharged widebody sunburst to get my hands on Sunkist. I guess I must be high too. ;-)
Send the seller an email offering to trade. Only a miataphile would pick that car over yours Todd. Most of the rest of the world would pick yours if the two cars were parked side by side. Forgive him Rogue, he hasn't had his morning coffee yet.
From all the different threads with info there is a lot of it that's not original. It won't ever be a really collectible car as its a miata. It is cool because it's a 1 of 1. Just not worth the money.
I've got an ultra-rare rare 2002 Vivid Yellow Miata w/hardtop there were just 239 build and far fewer exist today with no salvage Title that I'd let you have for just $19,995.00. ::Angel::
Crazy money? Sure but there are crazy people out there who would buy it if they could. He just needs to find one fool with the dinero.
Sunkist is my favorite color too but it is far from the original car with a new motor and new front clip. Definitely not numbers matching. I wouldn't pay that. I'd just as soon paint another car orange.
The teal would likely be more valuable with its original paint. The blue metallic was repainted too. The yellow metallic may be worth a few bucks. I'm not sure if the mint green has been located and the raspberry is definitely MIA.
They are all unique but too early to be worth so much. 20 years from now, maybe.
I would rather just repaint mine to the "orginal" sunburst orange paint formula. That would leave me with only one item thats not original. By the theorys presented and by pecentage of originality, I can automatically quadruple the value of our car.
This is not in any way a dig on Rogue. There is no other Miata beyond Sunkist that would have invoked this reaction from me. It is just the one Miata I have lusted for more than any other. The fact that it was rebuilt is almost a plus to me, as it will no longer invoke offend Miataphiles to harass me for modifying it. No mater what is done to it short of changing the color, it will still be the only Sunkist. And yes, I did consider having Rogue paint mine orange. If I hadn't started with a sunburst, I probably would have.
