Computer advice
So my laptop computer is getting old.... really old. It is a Toshiba Satellite A15-S127 that I bought in the summer of 2003 for under $500. It lasted me through school and has been used for work purposes till now. In fact, I'm using it now, at Starbucks. Well, to be totally honest, the original board fried a year and a half ago, this is a franken-computer. I bought an office lease return unit for $60 shipped from ebay with no cables in the hopes of just being able to access my old files and use as a stopgap. Amazingly enough, the original plastic wraps were in place, and the battery is like brand new and holds a couple hour charge. I just slapped my hard drive in, and swapped in my moddified cooling fan, and away I was. The computer still works just fine, but there is a limit to how long technology can be made to keep up.
Anyways, I need suggestions on a new laptop. I maily use it for car forums, and basic work stuff like word processing, spreadsheets, and some basic image manipulation. I want something of a similar size, my Asus 7" EEE is too small, and my wife's laptop with 17" screen is HUGE. I am not needing enough speed to compete with a super computer, and I would like to keep price in the $300-400 range total with tax and/or shipping.
I'm leaning toward the Toshiba C855-S5233, but do y'all have any suggestions?
Here are 5 I was kind of looking at... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...^34-214-864-TS

I always watch deals2buy and wait on a good deal. Bet mid/late Nov there will be good deals to be had

Interestingly, a friend just made that exact upgrade... Go figure. My only remaining Windows machine is my DVR.

Go to Frys. They have a large selection of reasonably priced laptops and match internet prices.
-
I might wait and see on prices....
As for Fry's... I SWEAR anything I've ever bought from there I've had to return and get another because it didn't work....

I got my last one at Office Max, it was a good deal compared to Fry's prices. Found it on this site:
