Howdy.
I'm Jessica. You might recognize my car. I've been daily driving it in DFW for a couple of years with a raggedy tan soft top. The back glass was never up because it was barely attached to the roof anymore.

Sexy, ain't it? I did all the work on it myself, which is probably exactly what's wrong with it, but I have pride in the fact that I slapped it together on my own. It was bone stock when I bought it. I bought that mariner blue track prepped '91 the other night. Y'all seemed familiar with it. It runs great and is well sorted. It's a little rough around the edges, but no hack job by any stretch. I'm looking to swap pretty much everything from it into my car. It was a screamin' deal for the parts. Yeah, a 1.8 to 1.6 swap. My motor is really tired and the 1.6 obviously makes more power at this point. I'll want to compression test it first, but it seems like a far superior engine to the one I'm currently running. Bad rings and bearings full of cam shavings will do that. I'm fairly handy with a wrench, but I'll certainly need help with work of this magnitude. I always prefer to screw it up myself than pay someone else to. At least then I know what's wrong with it when I'm done. Anybody want to help me screw it up, or better yet, not screw it up?

Howdy.
Welcome. Clean looking ride.
-
Thanks, but it's really pretty beat up. Needs body work and paint. Looks good wet from 10 feet away, anyway. I sold a bike to make a down payment on my house. It's hectic and stressful trying to close, but hang in there.

Welcome. Have fun with your Miatas.

Welcome, I have a feeling if you set up a Tech day you will get a few of us that are willing to come by and help.

Cool. I need to figure out proper etiquette and terminology, I guess. First I need to make my garage look less like a dump truck unloaded the neighborhood's bulk waste in it, though.
Here's a front shot of my baby.

What size tires are you using and what is your height set at?
-
Uncut FM springs on stock shocks, 215/60-15 in back, 195/55-15 in front. The flares are really tall. The ride height is the same as it was with my tired stock springs.
-
Welcome. Where are you in the metromess? The flares must be tall, cuz it looks like a stock N/C in the front. Congrats on all you've done.

Thanks. I'm just barely in Dallas city limits on the south side of 20. Duncanville is a block away. Yeah, my flares are huge. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have got the kit from Autokonexion and a carbon extractor hood for the same money.

Howdy.
Just need some 16s to make it look a little less tall. The original flares were actually made to fit 17s on N2 miatas. That's why they look like they do.

Well, as stupid as this probably sounds, this car with huge dollar flares was cobbled together on a shoestring budget. I scavenged the wheels from an abandoned V8 RX7 project a friend left to rot in my backyard. New wheels are off the table. I've just about decided to sell it and keep the blue one instead. It's really growing on me.

...and thanks for the welcome, everyone. :-)
