Home network issue
Have a strange one. We have ATT DSL at the house with at least 3 devices connected full-time via wireless and 1 device hardwired full-time to the modem/router.
My brother is in town...it seems when he connects his laptop via wireless, it causes the entire network to disconnect for a few seconds several times thru the day.
Any ideas?

Ask him to cut back on the Porn. ;-)
Have you done the old reset the router? AKA. AT&T level one helps only solution
-
I did try the reset...no joy. It's been stable all morning since I asked him to shutdown his laptop.

your wireless router or AT&T's? Either way, do a google search with the router model # and the chipset in his laptop's wireless, and you'll probably pull up a firmware incompatibility with a suggestion of which one (or both) to upgrade.
-
Or see if there is a firmware upgrade for the router.
Also it might be reaching the max number of connected devices, so it will kick everything off just to see what comes back. The ATT hockey puck wifi hotspot thingy at my work does that sometimes, and it's limited to 5 connections max. (Note to others: Stay away from the ATT MiFi hotspot, the speeds are horrible and the connection is about as stable as a one-peg-legged drunken pirate.)

Thanks guys...I'll check it out.
The modem/router I spoke of is ATT's. No extra router added by me.
