I haven't used that but I have used some stuff called Ospho and it worked great. I think I got it at the local Ace hardware store. There's lot of info online. It contains phosphoric acid so be sure and wear some heavy duty gloves and eye protection if you use it.
Don't E30 come factory with rust?
English Color has Por15
I have used Por15, its nasty stuff.
Get it on your skin (and you will) and it will be there for 2 weeks.
there is also "Rust Bullet" and "Zero Rust".
I would just wire brush it and use metal prep, then prime/paint or undercoat it.
Is it just surface rust??
This stuff may be better for inside the trunk - http://www.eastwood.com/ew-rubberize...ero-15-oz.html
At one time, the only thing I could not buy for my 1948 Ferguson was a gas tank. I used the Por15 on the original tank about 7 years ago. It worked great and I have no rust in the tank yet.
It was a real PITA to do. I built a jig to hold the tank as I rotated it. I let it set on each side for several hours. Clean, neutralize and finish coat took me several days. I did it in cool weather, so I allowed extra time for each rotation. But, a young man like you should be able to do it a lot quicker than an old geezer like me.
I bought my Por15 online. I don't know of a local retailer.
It is just light surface rust. I thought about using a spray rust converter and wire brush.
For rusted bolts this stuff is awesome (and now on sale) - http://www.kanolabs.com/msn/
What about Naval Jelly?

WTF are you doing with an E30?
e30 is my son's car.
Ken, POR15 or similar stuff is exactly the right product for what you are doing. Wire brush off the scale, wipe it down (light rust and all) and brush on the "paint".
FWIW, I've had MUCH better results and easier application with Rust Bullet. POR 15 is a PITA.
