WTB: turbo parts

got a 91 1.6 and looking to do a really cheap fabbed up turbo kit. this is my commuter vehicle so dont really want a power hog (got another build for that). still need.... baisicly everything

any small stock turbo from anything (3000gt, dsm, wrx, audi, whatev) - $100
1.6 turbo manifold - 100
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
an lines and fittings
downpipe for whatever turbo i decide to get (just need it for flange)
intercooler anything that might even come close to fitting
piping, cold side and hot side. any scrap that could be welded together to make some bends lol
something to control fuel and maybe even ignition (safc, megasquirt, a ti83 calculator)

In any case, I do have an Adaptronic e420 that's a Plug 'n' Play for the 1.6 cars. It's unused and comes with the appropriate harness. It's likely going to need a firmware update since it's several years old. The Adaptronic can definitely handle fuel & ignition among other things. Not dirt cheap, but I can offer it for $425, a bit less than half the initial purchase price.

and either build or buy a 1.6 manifold. i would have a hard time spending as much on the ecu as i did on the turbo kit on this beater.

I have my old FM2 intercooler still if you want it. It's the original-original version that only has a single mounting tab that doesn't reach where it should so it needs to be zip-tied, but $25 and it's yours.

Came to me with red powdercoat, but I sprayed it black back in like 2005 or thereabouts.

You can order mandrel bends from one of the online parts shops like JC Whitney or JEGS for pretty cheap and make your own intercooler piping.

actually discount steel sells them all here in fort worth but currently i can not tig weld so i would be stuck with non aluminum tubing. so if someone has stuff layin around i could prolly put a few pieces together with couplers. and 25 for the intercooler sounds great, what kind of dimensions does it have. maybe a pic?

In case you can't see the dimensions in the last pic (+/- 0.25" or so):
Core = 16.5 x 8 (orange x yellow)
Total (w/o bumps for in/outlets) = 16.5 x 12 (orange x green)
Total (inc in/outlets) = 20 x 13 (blue x red)
In/outlets = 2" (pink)

As I said before, this is the original intercooler you'd get with an FM2. It pre-dates the additional mounting tab, and the tabs on it don't quite reach where they need to (not with FM's piping anyway). I've had it since late 2003, but it's been off the car since ~2006. I've kept towels stuffed in the ends, but I'd still suggest you blow some air through it before you plumb it in, which is a good idea for even a brand new intercooler. I might have some used red 2" couplers laying around I'd be happy to throw in, but don't count on that at all.

If you go over the radiator with the piping, you don't need many bends at all. A generic aluminum piping kit from eBay for $80 or whatever will work wonders for what you're looking to do. Otherwise, see what they include and get it from Discount Steel, then order couplers and clamps elsewhere. You'll quickly realize that for a low-budget piping setup, the eBay kits are near-impossible to beat.

When I used to build extremely low-budget setups for people I would pick up a used 2nd gen Eclipse blow off valve. They are plastic, abundant, and dirt cheap. They can be very quiet if you reroute it back to the intake like you have to if you're keeping the AFM, or they can be incredibly loud if you convert to a MAP sensor and let it vent to atmosphere (it *will* leak a bit, just FYI). If you're really trying to pinch pennies, you might want to look into it.

if you can meet up on thurs ill snag that intercooler. and i like the eclipse bov idea, and ya i imagine i will have to recirc it at least till i can get more expinsive engine management. there is a really nice 1.8 chinese ebay kit for 550 shipped i would need to get a new manifold for but i might go that route
