I just turned in a new personal record for gas mileage in my 1990 Miata, with manual transmission, 142k miles.
33.55 mpg.
On this tank of gas, I travelled 331.5 miles, and then filled up with 9.878 gallons in the tank.
I still have more dead weight to remove from the car, might get to it this weekend.
The motor has a cold startup miss for about 20 seconds. I need to research this

I don't really track mine, but I would guess about 25 mpg.
Holy crap, I get 20 on a normal tank and I'm on track for about 15 on ethanol. My massive Toyota matrix xrs (in comparison) gets 32 almost completely city and usually 34-35ish mainly highway.

Dang, I'm still trying to crack 15MPG.
21-23 in town, but I'm trying to get more aggressive and keep it closer to 20.

Consistently 23-24 mpg and damn proud of it. I'd think you'd have to drive like a :cat: to get over 30mpg. On my best tank I've never got more than 28mpg.
I get 30-31 on the highway with the S2000. About 23-24 in town with moderately aggressive driving.

Well... Driving at high elevation on a not-yet-broken in NC, I got back-to-back tanks of 34.85 and 34.7... Lots of spirited acceleration in the mix, but a lot more steady 45-70 cruising (never you mind those pesky 25 mph suggested speed signs for the curves). Not a lot of need to accelerate out of corners when a: the next corner is already there and/or b: Johnny Law has his eye on you via an unmarked ________ (and I've seen a bizarre variety of ______s). Also, not much time in 6th gear, except when taking advantage of lower rolling resistance on the many downhill runs. I'm guessing if speed enforcement showed signs of being a little less strict than it does where I've been, mileage would have been worse, but when 95% of cars you encounter are driving 1 mph *under* the limit, it's usually a good sign exceeding by more than 5 won't go unpunished...
As an aside, if my RX-8 had been able to managed 361 miles on a highway tank, it might not have gotten fired...
No idea what this one will get in town, but I suspect it'll be like OZMDD... I think my high water mark in the NB was about 33.5 on one of the tanks when it went to the Outer Banks of NC... The rest on that trip were 30-31 on the highway, and it ALWAYS got 25.6 in town whether she or I were driving.
I have found that the speedometers are pretty far off on both of my Miatas. If the Speedo is off, then so is the odometer. Calculating gas mileage based on on inaccurate odometer is fine for comparing one tank to another in the same car, but means nothing when compared to others. I would recommend using a GPS phone app to check the accuracy of your odometer. I keep meaning to do this to mine but I never seem to drive them more than 15 miles at a time.
Just drove to College Station for 2 days of track time at Texas World Speedway. I got 33.2 mpg on the way down and 15mpg on the track.
I did a couple of tweaks and my next tank gave these numbers:
339.65miles on 9.51gallons, yielding 35.71mpg.

Speedo is to comply with euro regs that it never reads low. My odos all read within 1% depending on age of tires. Ymmv. Pearl is currently reading 1% less than actual, so bump those numbers I posted so long as you want to ignore the inaccuracy of fueling.Quote:

Tuba City, AZ to north rim of the Grand Canyon to Zion NP to St. George, UT, yielded 36.21 mpg (36.56 using GPS mileage per Titus' suggestion). Only got 33.47 on today's tank due to an 80+ mph run gaining nearly 5,000 feet on I-25 NE from St. George taking the "fast way" to Bryce Canyon NP. Took a more "interesting" route back and only 50 miles of Interstate and netted 33.5 mpg. Heading back toward the Big D tomorrow... Probably just one more shot for a super-Miata mileage run before I hit the Interstates and whatever that yields... Interesting the trip computer (which is apparently operating by guess) had made it to 29.5 by the end of said 80+ mph run up I-25 this morning. It's also at least mildly entertaining to drive at the speed limit and watch tailgaters disappear when the road gets twisty, but not nearly as amusing as watching the asshat in the phenomenally overloaded GMC 2500 dragging a triple axle gooseneck pass me mostly in my lane directly in front of a Navajo Tribal Policeman the other day while I was doing 10 over... I'm betting he did NOT have a pleasant afternoon.
You're killing it on gas mileage, AND supplying Facebook with some really kick-ass pix! That sounds like one helluva trip...
But, back to the original purpose of the thread... my personal best was driving down from Red River to Albuquerque, where I logged 35.7mpg using the GPS mileage. The last tank I ran was just shy of 27, but I normally get about 24 in town with my semi-aggressniff asshat driving.
