I came across a really sweet deal on a 6 puck Spec clutch really cheap but kind of hesitant to buy a part like this used? Anyone on here done this in the past with good results? Most parts i dont have a problem buying used but parts that are expected to wear out-ex.clutchs,rotors,pads,etc-i dunno just seems weird. Thanks in adavance for yalls help!

No real reason to sweat a used clutch if the condition is good, and its not glazed, discolored or otherwise abused.

Seems OK, looks to have been sitting a while. If you can find out the original puck thickness, you'll have a better idea.
A worn clutch mated to a new (to it) worn flywheel? Sometimes that situation does not end well.
Good point. I'd definitely get the flywheel turned.
With the amount of work to put in a clutch, I would not put in an old one. That’s a job I don’t want to do any more that I have too.
It’s hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the pads are getting close to the rivets.
Agreed. Personally, I'd rather save up and spend a little extra cash on a new clutch and do it once.Quote:

Tom is a nice guy. Very honest with our dealings with him. I still would rather spring for a new clutch but as long as you are aware of the risks and are willing to accept them, do what you want.
I think you'll be fine. Tom is a good guy, and a low mileage clutch isn't that big of a risk. Sure, new is ideal, but I'll wager you are getting the next best thing. If you think about the conditions a clutch is designed to withstand daily, its not exactly a precision instrument.
Thanks guys for your help. I agree OZMDD but i will try to get the manufacturers pad thickness and compare to current. If all checks out i got a really sweet deal and its already broke in and ready to rock. If i think the life of it is degraded past a point that im willing to install then i will just re-sale.:chug:
