blinkers oil pressure water temp and tach all died last night and now i have a p0135 CEL. replaced the METER fuse and it blew again after like 5 miles. searching around ive seen threads on the subject but no definite solutions. any ideas?
no abrasion on the shielding on the O2 sensor wires so if its damaged it must be under that shielding. how do you get to the plug part of the secondary O2? but isnt bank 1 sensor 1 the first one after the engine?
You certainly have a short somehwere... I'd look anywhere the wires are in contact with the body or clamps. That's usually the first place; unless one of the components has suddenly shorted to ground internally.
Start at one end, and verify which harness is shorted to ground. Then disconnect a section as close to halfway through the harness as possible and check both ends; one should be shorted to ground, then continue this method until you have it isolated.
its shorting when I put it in reverse. Don't know if the CEL is related or not. I'm gonna pay Stevan a visit on monday (^.^)b too busy with family members graduations to chase down the short right now.Quote:

Yes, bank 1 sensor 1 is the front sensor - the one in the exhaust manifold. The heater in the sensor gets power through the METER fuse, so if the fuse is blown, the heater won't work, and you'll get the code. You can find the wiring diagram online (miata.net) and see what all is on that circuit - but if putting it in reverse causes the fuse to blow, I'd start with the wiring for the reverse lights...
Oh, and the plug for the rear O2 sensor is under the driver's seat, under the carpet.
It was a loose reverse light wire that attached to transmission I believe it also fixed the p0135 CEL. Thanks Stevan aka Rogue
