We had a great time at the FW Zoo today. The weather was amazing for mid-August. The monkey house reminded me of this place.
The new reptile house was fantastic. The critters were way more active than I ever saw them. I think they were happy. The new baby elephant was cute too!
The Ft Worth zoo has been better than the Dallas zoo since I was a kid...............
We went last week and it was great except for the temp and humidity. My wife wants to get a season pass for next year.
Top tip. Pack a lunch in a roll-a-round cooler. While their website says they "discourage" it, online searches have several folks saying they had no problems as long as there are no glass containers or al-kee-haul. We had no issues at all and enjoyed having cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks at the ready. TCB Zooing.
I also noticed they eliminated the parking booth attendants and collect the $5 parking fee at the main ticket booth. We paid but without having to place proof in your car that you did pay and no one asking for proof of payment as we left, it seems they don't enforce it. It seems to be an honor system.
We have memberships to the FW Zoo, Dallas Arboretum, Dallas Zoo, and the Gardens in FTW. I think the Dallas Zoo pass has been used maybe, maybe once this entire season. The in-laws gave us the passes as gifts to our kids but I'll be damned if I'm dragging my little ones to the south Dallas zoo just to see the Dallas Zoo.
