So when is a good day to run up to the Mineral Wells Airport in my Miata track car?
Whatever day you rent the site. Typically, its only available on weekends, since there are some companies adjacent to the site that don't like racing during their workday.
Otherwise, wait until there is an autocross or time trial event scheduled there. The Calendar on this site can tell you when.

Join us at Equipe Rapide autocross #8 on Saturday October 5th at Mineral Wells. We will also be there on November 2 and 3.

What about Miata events there? I am not seeing any. Are there any? Does it matter what the event is? thanks!
What are you looking to do?
If you want to autocross on there, then all five autocross clubs in DFW allow Miatas and some of them hold events there. Just go to www.dfwautocross.com for a calendar. The BMW club will be there next weekend (http://www.dfwmiata.com/threads/2490...tember-15-2013).
The Porsche Club of America will have a time trial there in late September and a few more this year. These are also on www.dfwautocross.com.
Other than that, it is only drifters that use the place.
