Sup chiefs, it has been a while. I no longer have a Miata, still got my turbo'd 240. However, my mom got herself a 91 automatic 7 or so years ago now and has put 100k on it delivering pizza (her 2nd job).
It has certainly taken its fair share of accidents and now leaks brake fluid (although I have replaced the master cylinder, 2 front and 1 rear caliper, and still can't find the leak) as well as power steering fluid (rack is shot) but worst of all...
Transmission fluid. The pan has seeped for 100k miles, so I figured, when it started revving instead of engaging, perhaps it was time to change the pan gasket. I get under the car last weekend, and it is leaking internally, out of a seam in the middle of the transmission. I don't wanna waste time taking it out if whatever could possibly be causing this isn't worth fixing. I have called Steven @ Miata Solutions to no avail, and eBay transmissions are near a grand before shipping.
Any ideas? Anyone know if this is a simple fix once the tranny is dropped, or know of a cheap place to get it rebuilt, or locate a used one? She needs the car for work, and it is drinking fluid like an alcoholic. Most everyone with a Miata was wise enough to get a 5/6 speed, so finding info on forums for the automatic (especially leaks) is near impossible.
