WTB 1.8 motor

I need a motor for my 97. It has been overheating, the system was all gunked up and At first I thought it just needed a new radiator. Turns out Its the head gasket. So I need a motor...

I'm open to suggestions
anyone with an extra long block hanging around that they want to part with? Can anyone suggest a place to have my motor rebuilt? I'm kinda low on cash at the moment as I just put down a deposit on a wedding venue (ridiculous the price of weddings these days).

My Miata is my only car, so as of right now I am hitching with friends and walking.

I know I should just give Rogue a call, I am sure he could fix me right up.

If its a bad head gasket, sack-up and pull the head. Its not fun, but it isn't a job that can't be figured out by an average-skill shadetree mechanic. Getting the head cleaned and decked is inexpensive, and the gaskets aren't costly either. I did the head gaskets on my 1976 Cadillac when I was 17, out in the street in front of my house, after I overheated it on a non-approved trip to the beach one summer. Messy, frustrating and tedious, but utterly do-able if you follow some step-by-step instructions.

Doing a head gasket on an NA is not a real hard job. Everything is pretty easy to get to. I would go ahead and change the timing belt, pulleys and water pump while I was in there.

Sounds like a good plan. Can anyone recommend a place to have it cleaned up?
