Wondering about car theft in Tarrant County specifically NHR

Wondering about car theft in Tarrant County specifically NHR

I'm wondering if any of the locals can give me some insight on car thefts in the area. I've seen reports of 5 vehicles stolen in as many days on facebook. I moved to NHR in May and this entire time I kept my wrx in the garage. This week I'm finally bringing my miata home and I'm wondering if I should be worried. Since my top sucks the miata will probably get the garage space. Should I be concerned about auto theft in this area? I've heard of a civic in Grapevine, a WRX in Fort Worth, a Fusion in Arlington, Dually in Dallas and a bike in Dallas.

Any large metropolitan area will have increased crime. It's just that social media makes the world seem smaller so it seems crime is higher. Grapevine to Fort Worth to Arlington to Dallas is a HUGE area. I've lived here most my life and never had a car stolen. Had a car stereo stolen once but the car sat on a back lot for months at a job I had.

I completely agree its a really large area, but I'm more concerned with North Richland Hills. I work from home now, so most of the time the cars will be here, unless I'm in class. I don't know the North Richland Hills area at all so I was asking. When i first moved to Texas over a decade ago I had a car broken into and a motorcycle stolen when I took my wife to the hospital. So I know it happens, but I don't know if this area is any different.

Yep, NRH is pretty much the cesspool of DFW, nothing but creeps living there. I think cars are stolen so frequently that you aren't required to have a title, you just register and inspect whatever ends up in your driveway at the end of the year.

Like most towns, some parts are a little more shady than others. I've lived just to the Northeast of the Davis & Mid-Cities Blvd intersection in NRH for 23 years and never had a problem. I'd say the southern and more western parts of NRH may be a little more vulnerable but that's just a guess. Overall, NRH seems to be pretty crime free compared to other parts of the fort worth area. What general area of NRH are you located?

NRH is OK in the daylight but no way would I even set foot in that town after dark! Scary Stuff!

I live in NRH, and park my Miata in the driveway. I usually leave the key in the ignition switch so nobody has to break anything to steal it. Every time it has been stolen, I just walk around to the neighborhood bars and crack houses until I find it. It usually still has the key right there in the switch, so I just take it home. I don't ever put enough gas in it that they would be encouraged to go very far.

I've lived in NRH and Hurst since the mid '80s and rarely hear of problems. We've had only a couple of grab-n-go cases over the years where teenagers specifically targeted unlocked cars. My Tundra was hit once in the driveway (I stupidly left it unlocked) but the paper guy noticed someone odd and reported it to the police who caught said scumbag with a bag of loot - junk like sunglasses, ipods, etc. I got my ipod (which had my name on it) and Oakleys back the next day.

The worst place around here is the N.E. Mall area. There's other areas like around the high school (on 829) and some of the lower rent areas off Chapman, etc. Wataga is pretty bad, I hear.
